Saturday the 6th August saw the annual club triples tournament. Eight teams were pitted against each other over the course of the day, with each team down to play four other teams.
The day started at 10:30 a.m. with blue skies and glorious sunshine, very welcome after some of the recent weather. After the first two matches the contest was looking very interesting, with several teams jostling for the top position. A well earned lunch was then taken; the food being kindly provided by many of the members themselves.
After lunch the sky had began to cloud over but everyone was eager to resume the fun. Unfortunately, towards the end of the third game it had started to rain and by the time the third game was completed it was raining hard. Although the tea break was taken early no further play was possible and the contest had to be drawn to a premature end.
Congratulations go to team 8 consisting of Doreen Miller, Brian Walker and Brian Pepper with the runners up being team 1 consisting of Maurice Lauder, Derek Braybrooke and Molly Lauder. The winners were presented with their prizes and a commemorative shield.
